In 1986, Johan Van Roy began experimenting with harsh electronic music adorning the name Suicide Commando. After releasing nine cassette tapes, and having track appear on two compilation LPs and a compilation CD, Suicide Commando appeared on stage in support of Plastic Noise Experience in 1993. Metropolis Records grew out of a small record store located in the popular South Street area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
