4-piece industrial-metal juggernaut Acumen Nation are back with their 8th studio album, Psycho the Rapist. Often heralded as innovators of the original Coldwave industrial movement of the 90s, Acumen Nation has powered their music towards the violent aspects of metal and drum 'n' bass in the process of expanding their horizons.
The 2006 release of Anticore found the Nation at their metal best, the most political and scathing album the band has released to date. Small US tours with KMFDM and Frontline Assembly behind them, principal songwriter Jason Novak felt a strong reconnection to the industrial scene that helped to build them, and entered the studio in December of 2006 with a new urgency.
The result is a mad, twisted concept album dealing with the horrors of the medical industry, the deluge of pharmaceutical drugs, and the darkest corners of the mind. Psycho the Rapist is also by far the most electronic and industrialized offering the Nation has released in years.
This album will unite the old school and new school Acumen fan, the ones blaring the coldwave tunes of yesteryear with the metal/jungle fans of the present.
